Pro Tip for Optimal Metallic Finish with PETG Metallic Filaments: To achieve the best metallic finish with our PETG Metallic series,
use the filament within 1 week of opening or dry it at 176°F (80°C) for 4–6 hours before printing. For extended storage, re-dry as
needed to maintain print quality. Recommend print temperatures for hotend (220~250℃) and heat platform ( 70~80℃).
Temp tower for a Prusa MK4S looked the best at about 230. I suspect that this is like typical metallic/silk filament types where printing outer walls slowly (around 30 mm/s) should enhance the metallic aspect a bit. But I agree with Robert that the printed color could be more like what it shows on the roll (which is more of a tarnished gold/bronze - and was what I was really looking for). I was excited when I saw the roll, less so when my print finished. QC could definitely increase the composite to reflect a better color. The "product" picture color is fantastic, but not how it actually prints. Disappointing. If Geeetech staff is listening, I'd also like to see a similar "tarnished gold/bronze" tone in a Silk PLA (for when the strength of PETG is not really needed, and so that this color could be added to a print that was already using Silk PLA, since obviously the two materials would not adhere to each other). And for the record, Geeetech's Gold Silk PLA is awesome! It's the only one I use after testing at least 20 other brands.
Hi Liam, Thank you for your liking and support of our silk gold filaments. We also thank you for your advice on the PETG metal brown. I will provide feedback on the issue to our QC department, which will make adjustments and improvements.
Not very metal looking at all. It more of just a brown. Not what the pictures look like.
Hi Robert, Hope you are doing well. Thank you for your valuable feedback. The PETG Metal brown is our new product. We will report the issues to my QC colleague, and they will adjust the metal light proportion and increase the metal feelings. Our silk series is brighter and prefers metal feeling, you can check the silk series of filaments.
