Geeetech Prusa I3 M201 is the 2-in-1-out version of our latest Prusa I3 series 3D printer. This is a fused filament fabrication printer, easy to use and also designed for DIYers and professionals alike.

The M201 features our newly engineered the 2-in-1-out switchable hotend, that feeds 2 filaments through one nozzle. With the new 2-in-1-out hotend the M201 can work like a color palette, providing a new level of expression with your prints allowing you to create alternating colors, blending color and gradients.

In order to achieve this we optimized the firmware that is driven by our newly developed GTM32 control system, which is based on the STM32 processor and paired with the ARM Coretex M3, running a dominant frequency of 72MHz, greatly improving the overall printing performance.

We added a new feature, the Mixer, to the interface to control the percentage of the feed rate of the two filaments.

In order to achieve more kinds of printing effects and more gradient styles, we add a practical feature to the latest Firmware to customize gradient template, thus we can set different gradient color effects.

This M201 3D printer maintains DIY property, with which you can unleash your creativity to refit or modify it as you like. This kit is just the beginning; you can get more out of it.

1.Self-developed control system based on STM32 processor, paired with the ARM Coretex M3, running a dominant frequency of 72MHz, greatly improving the overall printing performance.

2.Optimized firmware, with new feature of adjusting the proportion of feed rate from two extruders to print items with blending color or gradient colors.

3. 2-in-1-out switchable hotend, works like a color palette, providing a new way to print items in two different colors or gradient colors.

4. Higher transmission accuracy of Z-axis.

Z-axis adopts high-precision lead screw which is able to convert rotary motion to linear motion. The lead screw features high accuracy, reversibility and high efficiency. It can achieve accurate micro-feeding to ensure printing precision, and high-speed feeding to ensure fast printing speed.

5. 280x210x200mm printing volume, able to printer larger models than most of the I3 printers on the market.

6. Up to 0.1mm printing precision, matching competitors that costs 10 times more on the market.

7. With LCD 2004 controller and SD card reader, support stand-alone printing.

8. Super-flat aluminum alloy print surface for better adherence.

9. 3D printing filaments compatible: PLA, ABS

Sorry, I didn’t understand whether it is possible to use the 3d auto level device offered on your site on the M201 with the GTM32Pro vB board? What needs to be done for this, in addition to installing firmware v1.0.03?

    • Jocelin Jia | 08/29/2019

hello, 3d auto level device can not be used on M201 printer with GTM32Pro vB board, it does not have the connector

  • Leroy Marshall | 03/02/2019

Where can buy a new or used Gtm32 ver A board?

    • Jocelin Jia | 03/11/2019

now the printer use gtm32 provb

      • Tj Perdion | 08/16/2019

what nozzle for i3 m201 printer?

        • Jocelin Jia | 08/27/2019

0.4mm nozzle, 45-001-0184 is for M201, it is not listed on the website; if you need it, pls send emails to sales@geeetech.com, we will place offline order for you.

  • Paul Lawson | 02/04/2019

OK I recently purchased this M201, and have finally gotten time to build it. I have followed the build on YouTube, and have hit a dead end ..... the printer doesn't have any data cables to connect the LCD to the Control Board. I have the GTM32 Pro VB and packing list states LCD2004 + Cable. I have the LCD but DO NOT have the cables Now what??

    • Jocelin Jia | 02/14/2019

can you please send mails and pictures to jocelin.jia@geeetech.cn? thanks

  • I D | 11/09/2018

How do you "upgrade" ? I already did to the latest for the GTM32, 1.0.5, and it is not possible to use the Auto leveler for this printer, I bought it for recommendation of a geetech tech and there is no instructions on the wiring not the set up for the leveler. Why no superplate? and no auto leveler? Why no support for this printer ?

    • Jocelin Jia | 11/09/2018

Firstly, change the mother board to GTM32 PRO VB Secondly, change the wires last upgrade to latest firmware, 1.0.5 is the oldest version Notes: if you are not good at upgrades, please think twice before upgrading, thanks

      • I D | 11/09/2018

So, are you telling me that i have to buy another board? so the one that comes with this M201 printer is not good for the auto-leveler?

        • Jocelin Jia | 11/12/2018

M201 printer we desinged not support to auto leveling, if you need upgrade it, you need change the mother board.thanks

        • Jacek Pruciak | 12/27/2018

Maybe I can help. This printer model has been on the market for many years. During this period the controller board has been updated to a more modern version. Recently, the printer has been equipped with a GTM32Pro vB controller board. The current firmware for this controller is v1.0.03. Yes, the automatic levelling sensors do not work with this model. It is possible to install "Geeetech Superplate 3D Printer Aluminum", but it requires the ability to do-it-yourself. I will answer all your questions in the forum.

  • I D | 11/06/2018

Hi! any news on when the M201 it´s gonna be compatible with both geeetech products: the Auto-leveling 3d touch and the Super-plate?

    • Jocelin Jia | 11/07/2018

M201 need you upgrade then can suppport auto leveling, the plate is Aluminum

  • MAURO ALTOMARE | 09/20/2018

Non riesco a collegare i cavi dei motori sulla scheda

  • James McElhany | 08/23/2018

This is the M201 with the GTM32 VB board version

    • Jocelin Jia | 08/23/2018

      yes, James

  • James McElhany | 08/23/2018

Y-axis not moving correctly, always short when moving to opposite side of object

can u please send more details to jocelin.jia@geeetech.cn? vidio prefered

  • Mat Muscat | 07/29/2018

Hello! I have just purchased the Prusa I3 M201 and have built the printer, but found some problems when trying to calibrate the axis'. X Axis will not move at all, I changed the cable with the cable from the left Z motor and then the X motor will move when selecting Z motor. When I swap the cable back, it will not move again. Also, the left Z motor and the right Z motor are moving in opposite directions. I have changed cables and motors and still the same problem. The mobo only has 2 slots - 1 for 3-in-1 cable and 1 for single cable and they can only plug in in 1 direction. Can you assist please? Thanks!

    • Jocelin Jia | 07/30/2018

Send mails to jocelin.jia@geeetech.cn? 1 wire is damaged for the x aix, change Y axis wire to x, then mover? 2 wrong direction?

    • Jacek Pruciak | 08/07/2018

All problems that Mat talks about, we solved together on the forum.

  • Ryan Borders | 07/28/2018

Aside from firmware controlled color mixing, can this printer print in a dual color mode like a normal dual extruder?

    • Jocelin Jia | 07/30/2018

this print is 2 in 1 out nozzle, so can mix two as one

  • James McElhany | 07/21/2018

I have 2 of this printer. One in 2016 and the other 7/2/2018. Hane not been able to get either on working due to Z-axis movement. I have seen where users have modified the printer and installed #608 bearing to stop binding in the Z-axis movement. I would to obtain the new lead screws with the Z-axis for the printer I purchased in 2016. Also the Z-axis motor on the right is like there not enough power. I am at this computer by 1900 hours CDT, Walters Oklahoma.

  • James McElhany | 07/10/2018

I like the improvements made to the printer, just would like to be able to use.

    • Jocelin Jia | 07/12/2018

      sorry,i can not understand well.

  • James McElhany | 07/06/2018

What are the complete firmware for the M201 GTM32 Pro also for the M201 GTM32 Pro vb. I have managed to erase all the settings.

    • Jocelin Jia | 07/06/2018

you can find the firmware on the github, thanks

  • James McElhany | 07/05/2018

I would need at least the GTM32 Pro vb, connecting cables, 24V PSU as mine is 12V PSU, motor control boards for extruders.

    • Jocelin Jia | 07/05/2018

Hi James, the printer use the VB mother board and the psu still 12V, thanks

  • James McElhany | 07/02/2018

I purchased the M201 printer on :2016-07-04 15:24:33, I have noticed the is a change in the build. What is the cost to convert my old one to the new electronics? I have had nothing but problems with this printer. I an ordering the new version.

    • Jocelin Jia | 07/03/2018

Hi James, Can u tell me which component you need?

  • Ian Baxter | 06/24/2018

Hi, I just finished building my new M201 and plugged in for the first time. No poofs of smoke or sparks and the LCD panel lights up, so it would seem so far so good. However, I started testing the functions with the LCD to move the motors and Z-axis works, Y-Axis works but X-axis doesn't work. I'm using the control board straight out of the box, which has the motor drivers in a different configuration from the documentation. I'm wondering if this could be the issue, but I don't want to start pulling the drivers out of the board and moving them until I get some kind of confirmation. Could you please send a picture of exactly how it is meant to look. Thank you in advance.

    • Jocelin Jia | 06/25/2018

Hi Ian, x-AIXS does not work when u auto home or no moving when you use the lcd control the x-aix? please send mails to hocelin.jia@geeetech.cn, thanks

Can this printer use only one filament, and not 2 at the same time. Meaning if I want to print in single colour, can I use only one extruder. /cheers

    • rita xiang | 09/20/2016

Hello Petar, Yes you can use one extruder only if you like or you can use the same color for both extruder. Very flexible

  • Eric Speijer | 09/15/2016

Just wanted to say. I've had my m201 for a while now, and I'm extremely pleased. I've been able to produce xxx numbers of prototypes and parts too no end. In genaral, if you are planing to get a 3d printer remember there is a learning curve too it. Once you start to get the basics. Thats when the fun starts

    • rita xiang | 09/16/2016

Thanks for your comment. You can share your great printing parts to us.

  • Canada Jones | 09/13/2016

Hello! I recently got one of these 3D printers (M201). When i powered it on, it smoked and the eight-legged chip on the back side burned up. Is it possible for me to buy a new one from you, and if not: Is it possible to buy another one of your cards that will let me use my printer, also what could burn that chip.

    • rita xiang | 09/13/2016

  • David Parry | 08/26/2016

Is there a way to test Hotbed as not working? I have been on forum but no luck as yet.

    • David Parry | 08/03/2016

On this bit For GTM32, measure the voltage between the pin1 and any of the other pins(GND), when heated up it is 0V and when not it is 24V I am not getting 24 V and no lights by where the hotbed wires go into. All rests seem ok.

I'm having problems to start printing the first layer with the printer, as pellets are formed and stops printing well. What I can do?

    • rita xiang | 07/27/2016

Hello Daniel, have you calibrate the platform, what is the height between the nozzle and the platform. Here is a printing quality trouble-shooting guide for you to refer http://www.geeetech.com/wiki/index.php/Print_Quality_Troubleshooting_Guide

      • Daniel Leiva Gallardo | 08/02/2016

I've been testing what it says in the guide, but it seems the problem is that plastic is ejected very slow. I modified the parameters to expel the plastic faster, but still the same. any ideas? Thank you

Hello, A few months ago I purchased the m201 printer. I am still having trouble with the mixing hot-end. I would like to chance to a 1 in 1 out hot-end, like a E3D V6. Is it possible to replace the firmware so there is only 1 bowden extruder? Maybe the Prusa I3 X firmware is compatible? Or any other firmware from an existing Geeetech Prusa printer? I look forward to hearing from you about the possibilities. Thank you in advance. Bart de Haas

    • Andrea Lambert | 07/04/2016

the thermistor reads 30c when in the off state and 200c when turned on. the filaments are were tested before applying heat and the extruders moved them back and forth. I fed the filaments all the way in till the extruder clicked. then applied heat. using the software I tried to get some plastic to come out and it did not. I removed the brass nozzle and there is no plastic in the nozzle. I can also report the filaments are fused inside of the print head. because they will not pull out. any suggestions?

Hi,would you like to describe your question in detail? Thank you

  • Stephane Bois | 03/20/2016

I just buy the printer and it is fairly easy to assemble. You might want to see if you have a friend with a leather punch. As you need it to punch the Y axis belt 2.5mm for M3 x8mm screw..That would end up to be frustrating if you where planning a nice flawless weekend assembly. I did encounter minor fit of the assembly but nothing major. They provide a file, but definitively better with a Dremel. The soft rod do not go through the X Axis assembly with a good filling or dremel job. It is a kit remember...Service is helpfull. I am waiting for replacement soft rod as 2 where damaged. An we still work on a bad temp sensor not reporting proper temperature. Can't use it yet...But look cool!I can't wait to have it to work!

    • Quentin Qiu | 02/03/2016

Hi, sorry to tell you that your pro C can not be upgraded to M201 because there is no room for motor on the top plate of Z axis.

      • peter cox | 02/03/2016

thankyou If I print out special mounting plates for the M201 motors could I use the 2 in 1 switchable hotend. Can I buy the motors, the hotend and controller seperately from you

        • Quentin Qiu | 02/04/2016

Yes if you have room for motor you can upgrade it to M201. But you need to change the extruder to 2-in-1-out extruder, change the controller to GTM32 control board, and change the power supply to 24V. You can buy these parts. The 2-in-1-out extruder kit includes the motor. For details and order, please consult our sales. Thank you.

  • Peter McHale | 01/27/2016

Would it be possible to change to the "dual extruder" (2in 2out) after buying this? If so, is the switch (from 2in 1out to 2in 2out, and vice versa) simple enough (How much time might the modification take to make, and would it involve cutting wires or desoldering and resoldering, or anything involved)?

    • Quentin Qiu | 01/29/2016

Hi, is it possible to print wood,Nylon, Ninja flex or some other special filaments with this printer? If not, are you planning some updates for it? Thank you

    • Quentin Qiu | 01/24/2016

Hello, you can try to print wood if you are experienced. Other special filaments can not be used on M201. Sorry to tell you currently we don't have an upgrading plan for M201.

  • David McCoy | 01/18/2016

yes hi, I have a geeetech I3 X and I wished that I would have bought the M201 any way do you have an upgrade kit for my I3 X to your M201 it was surprising to see that after I bought my I3X for 350.00 and then I see that your M210 is only 30.00 more, well I hope that you do...also I have not even started to assemble my I3X yet so if we can do it now is the time to acquire the different parts for the upgrade to the M201. please let me know, thank you.

    • Quentin Qiu | 01/18/2016

Hello David, yes you can upgrade I3X to M201, they are the same in structure. The control board of I3X is GT2560,but M201 uses GTM32. And M201 is 2-in-1-out extruder. What you have to change are control board, power supply and extruder. If you want to purchase the parts, please contact the sales. Thank you. BTW, I3X is also a good printer to use.

  • Frank Toorenburg | 01/17/2016

    • Quentin Qiu | 01/11/2016

Yes, it is possible. But if you change it into dual extruder, the function of printing gradient color and blending color will be lost.
