GT2560 3 transistors are overheating - almost burn

Post by pekote » Wed May 04, 2016 3:45 am

There are three transistors in the GT2560 that are really hot, probably more than 100°C. If I touched them with wet fingers, it is possible to observe boiling water.

I'm pretty sure that the life of the transistors operating at this temperature will be very short...

My printer has about 4 months operating OK, but I was wondering if other users with the GT2560 observed the same issue, and experienced any failure.

In fact, I have to correct the 1st post, there is only one transistor that is almost burning, the others are hot but not so much.
This is the one that heats the heat bed, the third counting from the left to the right in the picture. This transistor is really hot.

You should replace a new board.

Having the same problem.

Can the Mosfet be replaced (will this fix the problem)?

If anyone else is experiencing this issue I recommend replacing the bed MOSFET with an IRLB8721. I did this today and the mosfet is now running a lot cooler. For 60°C you don't even need a cooling fan for it.

I replaced mine with an IRL8743 and its running very cool.

I also soldered the 12V supply directly to the board as when the mosfet was faulty, it melted the 4 pin power connector.
