Z-Axis won't move

Post by Mattes83 » Wed Jan 02, 2019 7:22 pm

I just assembled my prusa i3 w and tried to move all axis.

X and Y axis move fine, z axis doesn't move at all. The motors both move fine, but when I tighten the threaded rods on them, they don't move and only make noises.

Can anybody help me?
What could be the error?

OK, I found a solution myself: the screws in the z-axis nut where too tight. I loosened them a little bit, and now it works.
I don't understand why. Can someone explain me, please?

Good luck. I got wrong Z axis couplings and I'm still waiting to hear about that days later...

I did read somewhere that one of the pictures was wrong in the instructions for assembly eith regards to the Z axis stuff. I'll see if I can find it again

I am having the same issue. The stepper motors both turn when I have the coupling loose from the threaded rod but when I connect the coupling It sounds like they are trying to move but the threaded rods don't even look like they are trying to turn. I lubed the rods up and they turn pretty easily when I turn them with my hands. I havent busted out my bubble level yet but I would think you would at least see it try to move.
