Firmware v1.1.8 not compatible with GT2560A board

Post by e415ldc » Thu Jul 11, 2019 5:50 am

I recently attempted to load the new Marlin 1.1.8 code referenced in this forum on my GT2560A board. This is the none PLUS board.

I am using a 3D-Touch bed leveling sensor configured as per the instructions I was provided two and a half years ago. The printer works fine with the old 1.0.x code, but i want to use some of the newer features of the 1.1.x code.

I found the PINs files are "sort of hard coded" to the new PLUS version of the board.

If you have the BOARD_NAME defined as the GT2560A+ the pins-gt2560a+ file is included at compile time. that file looks like this:

Code: Select all

/**
 * Geeetech GT2560 Revision A+ board pin assignments
 */

#define BOARD_NAME "GT2560 Rev.A+"

#include "pins_GT2560_REV_A.h"

#if ENABLED(BLTOUCH)
  #define SERVO0_PIN  11
#else
  #define SERVO0_PIN  32
#endif

If you have the BOARD_NAME defined as the GT2560A there is no reference for a BL-Touch in the pins_GT2560A file. It looks like this:

Code: Select all

/**
 * Geeetech GT2560 Revision A board pin assignments, based on the work of
 * George Robles (https://georges3dprinters.com) and
 * Richard Smith <galorin@gmail.com>
 */

#if !defined(__AVR_ATmega1280__) && !defined(__AVR_ATmega2560__)
  #error "Oops! Make sure you have 'Arduino Mega' selected from the 'Tools -> Boards' menu."
#endif

//#ifndef BOARD_NAME
  #define BOARD_NAME "GT2560 Rev.A"
//#endif
#define DEFAULT_MACHINE_NAME "Prusa i3 Pro B"

    #define SD_DETECT_PIN  -1

  #endif // !NEWPANEL

#endif // ULTRA_LCD

I have a work around that corrects the lack of BL-Touch pin assignments for a GT2560A. I would not try to use this modified code for a GT2560A+ board however.

My work around:

Code: Select all

//
// Limit Switches
//
#define X_MIN_PIN          22
#define X_MAX_PIN          24
#define Y_MIN_PIN          26
#define Y_MAX_PIN          28
#define Z_MIN_PIN          30
//#define Z_MAX_PIN          32

#if ENABLED(BLTOUCH)
     #define Z_MAX_PIN -1
     #define SERVO0_PIN 32
#else
     #define Z_MAX_PIN 32
     #define SERVO0_PIN 13
#endif

//
// Steppers
/
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

With these changes the auto homing and bed leveling from the control panel appear to work fine.
