Hallo MichaelK and 3D printing friends!

I could compile your Marlin 1.1.9 (downloaded from thingiverse) together with aarli's configuration files from the post on page 3 in this thread.
I used Arduino IDE 1.8.7 in Win10x64 and uploaded the firmware directly by USB to the GeeeTech A10.

The embedded bed leveling wizard works great, even I think it would be better to do the opposite edges first.
E.g.:
1. front/left
2. back/right
3. front/right
4. back/left
and after that the middles of the edges.

Now I will see how the prints will come out. The Marlin changelog promises smoother motor steppings and a lot of bug fixes - let's see.

I control the printer with an OctoPi + OctoPrint setup.

Hi Michael,

i can confirm the shifting layers you describe on your blog.
But it seems not the result of the latest firmware, i had problem too with original firmware before update.

I get better results if i throttle down the print spped on the quick setting on display.
When i see the print goes wrong i start it new and set the FR to 80%. Often this works.

But i had this problem in different ways, objects are sometimes shiftet all 4-5mm in the layer or only after 80 or 90% of its high.
So you control print at the first half and think it goes good all the way and at the end the printer seems to fool me
It seems it walks more and more to the backside of the printer, so direction of falsing is the same.

Hope i can help to find the failure source. It really sucks and i wastet more then 15% of my material by this problem.

Did you test another acceleration speed already? During the print the nozzle turn back to a null point an every layer and start from there.
Is there a setting to change this movement (turn back to object layer zero point.. etc) ?

This firmware is much better than the stock firmware! However, i'm getting bad layer shifts. I can hear the Y Axis stepper clicking while printing the infill. I'm not sure what to do.
I guess i'll need to go back to the stock firmware. Does anyone have a link to the stock firmware in a hex file?

--> On GeeeTech's Github you can download the hex file:

I tested with a webcam taking a photo every Z change (= new layer) and found out that the shift is exactly at the 128th layer (printed in 0.2mm per Layer, but I think the high of a single layer doesn't matter). Maybe this helps with finding failures for the bad layer shift.
At the 128th layer, the new layer is started at another point than the previous ones.

Here I uploaded a video: https://mega.nz/#!fApnha5b!KvV4cRb4zmKq ... 34oVHLyjDY
The shift happens at 00:05.325 or the 133 video frame. The first 4 frames are from the preheating and positioning. So I think the shift is somewhere around 127 - 129th layer.

Update to this post: The Y-Axis shift happens at different layers, but after nearly (but not exactly) the same printing time. So I don't think, it's a software problem as than it would occur at the same layer/g-code position every time.

Ok NEW to Geeetech so go easy please

do all A10s have mega board? my current firmware is v1.0.04 is this normal? is there a geeetech update or is the one in this thread the only one? What functions do I gain with the one in thread and will I loose 3dwifi module functionality??

Please check your board type:
GT2560VB or V3,then we can give you the correct suggestions.
