GeeeTech i3 Pro C - Z Axis Moving Slow

Post by Jukalokaduka » Wed Aug 19, 2020 4:11 pm

I recently got this printer along with 6 spools of filament for $100, a great deal i couldn't pass up. I have been working on it ever since, I upgraded the bed from the red pcb bed to a thick aluminum bed that doesn't bend anymore. Used my Ender-3 to print spool holders, redid all the wiring for a much cleaner look, as well as a triple fan mount that works great. At this point everything was working fine except my two extrudes, I tested all of the voltages on the motor drivers and everything was fine, I eventually found it to be a wiring issue. I then came on here to update firmware and after I loaded the firmware my z-axis has been my newest issue. When ever I try to manually control the z-axis on the lcd or on repetier-host it only moves a small distance. For Example, I will try to raise it 100mm an it may only move 5-10mm. Does anyone have any clues on what may be causing this?

Hey,

The threaded rods are not the cause. Everything worked right before i uploaded the new firmware. It is definitely something to do with the firmware. If someone could upload their firmware pulled from their gt2560. I also just installed the DVR8255 motor drivers for smoother prints. Any advice for changing the firmware for the change from the A4988 to the DVR8255 motor drivers?

Obvious things to look:

-Z axis steps on firmware
-Define drivers at firmware
-MS1 and MS2 Up MS3 down (A4988 16 microsteps DVR8825 32 microsteps)

Best regards

According to this forum (viewtopic.php?t=18295) ms1 & ms2 on with ms3 off is 1/8th step. I tried what this forum says and it doesn't change anything. I tried what you said and it made it the x and y axis move double the amount it should, but the z instead of moving 1/10 of the movement, it is not moving 1/4 of the movement or so.

Hi!

Ok, I missed with MSx config, I was talking about others drivers 😅
If you put 1/32 steps drivers need to change firmware steps, normally you need to double from 1/16.

Driver. X. Y. Z.
1/16 ------ 80. 80. 400
1/32 ------ 160 160 800

They are calculated values, later you need to calibrate with meassurement of printed calibration cube.

Defined drivers at firmware are A4988, you need to change them in configuration.h and put DRV8825.

Best regards.

P.D.
Z value are for Tr8 rod, for M8 rod are 2560/5120.
