E180 extruder

Post by Chuck240 » Fri Dec 14, 2018 10:27 am

I have had nothing but trouble from day one with this printer. I have been back and forth between Geeetech and Gearbest for service. Their final answer today was its not repairable or cannot replace it or refund. My extruder gets hot, the brass wheel is sinking into the filament, the filament ends up retracting farther than it extrudes, leading to failed prints. My nozzles have failed and they wont replace them. I am using a borrowed nozzle now for troubleshooting. Any ideas for a replacement extruder?? Thanks

Hello Chuck240.
;)

Have you tried to unscrew and clean the extruder?
Perhaps it was blocked and that's where the problems came from. This happens if you don't do conservation from time to time.

If the filament does not have the required quality then it is conducive to clogging the extruder.
On the forum I help to use the rod, I don't give fish.
Geeetech Prusa I3 M201 Dual extruder Mixcolor 3D printer, bought 2017-12-19, already built, in the cognitive and improvement phase

The extruder works fine when you manually run it. While the print is running it retracts too far and does not come back to the original feed position. I ran old gcode prints that worked in the past, and they fail, so I don't believe its has anything to do with the slicer. I increased the board voltage to .9 volts, made no difference, except the motor go real hot. Turned it back down to .45 volts. The gear is tight on the shaft, spring tension is fine. The nozzle temp is good also. I would like to down grade the firmware back a few versions, all this started after the update.

stock extruder is rubbish, change it for a titan clon, or a bondtech clon, and get rid of any troubles...also change the nozzle and put a V6 clone...

Currently I am very unhappy with the printer's E180 nozzles (horrible).

I have 3 obstructed and it is impossible to use them (unusable). The nozzles are poorly manufactured and sooner or later the extruder be blocked ...

@apak Could you share the .STL to change all complete nozzle/extruder and place a titanium clone or similar like yours? Thanks friend.

No can do!!! It´s not mine to release, I am helping the developer (Carlos Arruti) but he´s got very busy and not much done for months...still need to improve cooling, but I am pretty sure he will release it.

This are my V6 settings for PID, but I´ve already got rid of smartoo

That´s an easy mod, cheat, and with excelent prints after that.

There you have details for changing the board, and the V6 X carriage mounts....by Carlos Arruti

Great, very useful information!

finally I have assembled mk8 kit (CR-10): https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3298013

Now it prints much better, and also the nozzles do not get stuck. I just need to adjust the steps.
Thx for sharing your configuration, I'm very grateful :)
