Power supply tripping

Post by Percy » Wed Feb 22, 2017 11:02 pm

Hi My geeetech I3 Pro C has a problem! My power supply suddenly tripped after using it for a hour! It reset itself after about a half hour!
I reloaded what I wanted to print and about 1 minute later the power supply tripped again! This peace of rubbish is about two months old! Can someone suggest what to do???

What exactly do you mean by "tripped"?Your DC output is not stable?
You can measure it with a multimeter.

You wanted to know the voltage. It is 11.88 at the power supply and where it comes into the board it is also 11.88 on both neutrals and both lives

By tripping I mean the On /Off switch stays alight but the printer is dead /stops working! If I leave the printer for a half an hour and switch it back on it starts to work! It must have some type of overload protection inside that is (tripping) to cut the power and then will reset itself once it has cooled down. As far as I know and I am not a technician this sounds like there is a fault that is causing the power supply to over heat!

Got it...
So can you get another power supply(with 12V DC output) in hand? You can try another one to verify it if you can get.

Hi I have disconnected the power supply completely ! All I have is the on/off switch and the mains power! When I now switch the power supply on a little light comes on inside the unit for a second then goes off! If I Waite for about a minute I can switch it on again and it does exactly the same thing1
I sent this information to your technical team last night but they haven't come back to me!
Please tell me what to do now? The printer is two months old!
Regards Percy

Hi there

Yes the power selector switch is set to the correct voltage for the UK. As soon as I switch on the mains power to the psu trips out the mains supply to my house! I have disconnected to 4 pin connector to the control unit and it still happens. Could there be a problem with the psu?
Thanks for your help..
