Damage to extruded gear.

Post by DennisA » Tue Mar 31, 2020 2:26 am

I have a Geeetech i3 pro b which is only 4 weeks old. Build went smoothly and it printer some good items. Last week it started to fail as the extruded was found to be clicking. I have tried all the suggestions on the forum without success. On stripping the extruded down I found the marks as seen in the picture. Is this a manufacturing problem as I would have thought that the wheel should not touch the heat when filament is in place. Any suggestions please. I have ordered a replacement extruded and hot end assembly to see if this sorts the issue. Although as the printer is new is this a warranty issue?

Hi,

I was trying to print a Benchy. See attached. The print stars ok. After. A while usually about when it gets to start the cabin etc it stops laying down layers and extruded starts clicking. Sometimes the filament is stuck in the hot end and I have had to strip it to clean it out. On rebuild and test before printing filament flows ok when pushed by hand or driven by the motor. I have tried various temperature combinations. Last was bed 45 degrees and hot end 205 degrees C. As state I have previously printed good items see pictures. I bought the unit from Amazon so will return as faulty if cannot fixHope this helps. Dennis

Hi,I thought you would provide a printout with printing problems,
You can check the spring tension of your feeder,
Whether the extruder motor is running

Hi, the motor runs and then starts clicking, I have tried another motor and same happens. If I pause the print and pull the filament it is as the pictures Attached. If I cut it and re insert and continue with the print it works for a short period and then stops feeding again. Clicking noise. The gear has physical damage the teeth have a groove in them so to me looks like mechanical damage. I have measured the filament and this is shown in the pictures. Also I include the failed print which shows where it started to fail and not lay down enough filament. At the start it looks good to me. I have not changed any settings on the printer. I checked by printing a part that had been successful before and this failed the same way. I have tried adjusting the screw but nothing happens to improve the feed. I did not touch this between the successful prints and when it started to fail. Regard

Dennis
