Prusa I3 pro B : Need some advices for quality printing

Post by 105rn » Mon Jan 30, 2017 6:31 pm

Hello,
First of all, sorry for my poor English (I’m French)
I’m very newbie in 3D printing (I received my Geeetech prusa I3 pro B black Acrylic 3 weeks ago)
After several issues with Z axis, resolved with the help of several topics in this forum, I tried my first printings
First were awful due to bad Z level calibration (I ordered a auto bed levelling https://www.geeetech.com/geeetech-3dtou ... -1010.html but still not received)
Now, after manual Z calibration, I can print normal 8 sides dices with “standard” quality (except lower few mm ).
So, I tried 12 sides dice and Eiffel Tower, and results were bad (pictures enclosed)
- For the dice, the bottom faces (approx.. 20 mm) are completely disturbed, even if the higher sides seems corrects
- For the Eiffel tower, the small part on the top is disturbed.
A friend of mine suggest to lower the bed temperature to 55°C, but with no good result
Another suggest to add filament cooling fan(s).
Please, any advice would be helpful
Many thanks
Bertrand

My parameters :
- Geeetech prusa I3 pro B black Acrylic
- repetier-host v1.6.0 + Slicr3r
- PLA filament 1.75mm
- Extruder 210°C, bed 55°C
- Extrusion multiplier :1
- Layer height : 0.2 mm
- Disable cooling fan for the first : 3 layers
- First layer height : 0.3 mm
- Solid layers : 3

i have a prusa pro a,my prints looked like that,,
I fixed mine by installing Cura.
What did i do? I slice with cura, sent it to SD card,CLOSE cura and open Repetier.
Load the print that you put on sd card to repetier,,,go streight to print...Do not slice it again with repetier, just print. Also works in printer without computer,if you have that option.
Now mi printer dose wonderful prints, hope this works for you.
I thought my printer was messed up,but it was the software.
Hope this works for you.

Oh i forgot,,make all your settings in cura.
prusa i3
pla or abs or other
quality,,low,normal,high
solid, dense,hollow,etc
i do a plate adhesion also,it automatically slices it while you choose,no key for it.

when bottom right corner of cura screen says send to SD,just click it, it will send it to SD card.
then shut down cura and start repetier.
Or pull the SD card and put it in printer and print from printer.
good luck

Hi,
I made some tests using CuraEngine instead Slic3r in Repetier : results are not perfect .. but lot better !!
- with 6 sides dice, results are perfect !
- with 12 sides dice (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:578442), there are still some disturbances on faces going up outside, but lot less. Perhaps does it need some bridge ?
I tried also with 200°c / 65°C .. but with no better result
many thanks
Bertrand

Hi,
it seems that I need (at least) a filament cooling
I searched at thingiverse for models for my printer already equipped with an auto bed levelling (https://www.geeetech.com/geeetech-3dtou ... -1010.html ) and I'm not sure which to choice
any advice ?
thank you in advance
