My extruder is webbing

Post by wespiece » Fri Jan 06, 2017 10:39 pm

My extruder is webbing - i get tiny strings all over my parts as the extruder moves across open areas. See the pics attached. What setting do i need to change in the slic3er to fix this? Appreciate any help.

Hi,
Did you set the retraction in your slicer settings?
You can try increasing this value to take a look.

Could be too much heat. What is your extruder temperature set to? Also, check to make sure that the thermistor is completely in the heat block and none of it is sticking out.

I am using PLA and its running about 229c for the temp. The thermistor is as you say, it is sitting directly in the middle. Seems when i turn the heat down much lower i start having feed issues. Pics attached of the thermistor and how it sits in the extruder head.

That's high for PLA. Your feed issues at lower temps are the real problem.

Any suggestion on what to try? I have made the adjustments made on the forums to the xtruder but not sure it has made much difference

I guess the temperature too high...
The highest temp i used on PLA is 220c,and you'd better keep it at the range of 190~210c i think.

Does your extruder have the metal parts (lever, etc) or plastic?

attached is another couple pics of my webbing issues. I have included a shot of the screen display to show how it was setup during the part run. Even with the temp turned down and a fan blowing on the filament hot end i still get the webbing. Please help if you can. thx
