extruder flow too low

Post by paulwhy » Wed Jan 21, 2015 11:21 pm

My first prints on an I3 look like this. It seems the flow from the extruder is not fast enough. I think the extruder motor is stalling. I tried turning up the current to the extruder on the A4988 but this had no effect. What else can I try?

Hi,
I think the distance between the Nozzle and platform was to far, about 1 mm is recommended.

Thank you, that helped. But still it seems the prints are bad. I see the E steps is set to 760/mm in firmware. I calculate from the diameter of the extrude gear (approximately 10mm) the E steps should be 200 steps / rev* 1/16 step * Pi * 10 mm dia = 392 steps /mm. Is this correct? Can you send me a new firmware with this valve?

Can you paste a photo of what you had printed? We are experienced at this.
760/mm is a probable value to most of I3, It maybe not accurate but near to a suitable value.
We are not sure if 392 steps /mm is good or not.
You can set this value from LCD and test. If it's OK, We will send you the firmware which suit your I3 printer accuratly.
