Xbee USB Adapter issues

I have one of your Xbee USB Adapters that I just purchased. I am having problems with it. With an Xbee Series 1 or Xbee Pro Series 1, I cannot communicate with the Xbee with XTCU.

I am running WIn7 32 bit and the FDTI serial port is recognized. When the Xbee USB Adapter is first plugged in, the Power led lights, the green and red RX/TX LEDs flashe, the PWR LED flickers a lot (gets bright and dim and bright etc), then eventually stays on bright.

Running X-TCU from Digi, sees the appropriate COM port. If Query/Test button is clicked, the PWR LED blinks and dims, the Green LED flashes then the PWR LED goes off. X-TCU pops up an error message about "Action Required- Unable to communicate with modem" and a bunch more. If you follow the instruction about doing reset (either Xbee pin 5 to 10, or RST to GND on the Xbee USB Adapter) nothing happens because I think the pwr is off to the modem at that point.

I've tried this on two notebooks, and with 4 different Xbee modules but I get the same issue. Is your Xbee USB Adapter defective, or am I doing something wrong.

Please help.

I believe I accidentally discovered the cause of my issue. Apparently your quality control is not very good for these. What I found was a solder short from the manufacturing process around the TX/RX leds. The short would cause problems if an Xbee was installed in the board, and a query done to the Xbee to cause it to send data to the computer (blinking the TX/RX leds) thus shorting out the power when the led was lit. This would eventually cause the PC to power off the USB port to prevent computer damage. Once I removed the solder "mess", the cable and board are working. If your QC process tested all of the board, or if you had a thorough inspection process, you would have caught this defect BEFORE it caused my problems. Having inspected this board further, I am concerned about some of the other solder connections on the FDTI chip that look like they could be cold solder joints and could fail during my expected heavy use of the board.

Not completely. The unit is running for now however, I am still VERY worried about the reliability of this board in the expected heavy use I plan for it. I need a backup unit to assure my application can stay running if the expected failure of the marginal soldering on the board comes true.

Ok, you don't need to worry, once you make it work, then it will surely run in a good reliability.

Hi All,
please use a USB converter to program it, and detect if it's your serial port problem or the mini328,
we test all the items before shipping,
Thanks,

My man, it's 2020, forget about USBs and all that stuff. It's time to use the cloud and switch to g suite backup & restore tool which will eliminate any possibility of your data getting lost in any way.

I join the answer about cloud storage, my friend is now really 2020, you should already forget what USB is.

Hello. Because they get non-monetary benefits from it, much like many other forms of entertainment. Some people find gambling fun. Others like the environment, restaurants, shows, etc. Others like both. For me, casinos, https://casinosanalyzer.com/casino-bonu ... sino.co.za, are among the most fun things on God's green earth.
