New 2017 firmware for rostock 301 ?

Post by raoulito9 » Wed Jun 07, 2017 3:38 am

Hi.
I bough a rostock 301 in september 2016.
After modding it , it slowly works.
I use firmware 1.02

When will we get a new firmware,
- allowing to retract correctly (retracting only one filament is not enough on diamond head, need to retract the 3 of them to avoid a "hairy print")
- to exploit really multicolor with gcodes
- to use autolevel probe ?

Please William, can you do something to awake technicians "working" on it ?
Regards.

Hi,Thank you for your advice,I'll tell the technicians what you're advising.
By the way,I have some questions about this advice.

I mean using color mixing ability with gcodes, wich is not possible with actual not open source firmware.

I would ask for a GTM32 Pro board schematics. I understand that you're too ashamed to disclose the sources of your proprietary firmware (it's one big single bug), but please give us miserable owners of this shit to at least try and write our own firmware for it or adapt some existing firmware. You would only benefit from it:

1. You could fire your programmers that can't tell buffer overflow from jitter filtering
2. You could use the created open-source firmware to further sell this piece of crap and reduce liability
3. Customers would feel less miserable and you would look more respectable

Please, oh, please! Give us the schematics of the board! I hate the idea of reverse engineering it. I'll better sell the printer or scrap it for parts to build a cartesian Prusa i3 or something...

Alexander Amelkin. I woild give up. they arent going to open anything up to us consumers. All we can do is spread the word and do everything we can to stop the sales of these products until they decide to bow down to us or shut down their business. I have already stopped several sales to date and more to come.

Z-probe and free open source firmware... A dream!!!!

I would like to be able to mount a Z Probe on my rostock and, at the moment, the only option I have is another competing board, knowing that the GTM32 PRO is fully capable of performing functions I'm looking for (Z-Probe and Full retract)...

I would not tell them how you would accomplish any added functioning where they will use it themselves and not give credit where credit is do. I am working on a setup that will operate this machine using Marlin and I'm sure they will hate that if it is accomplished. This will prevent them from being able to steel others ideas and profit from them which is what they are doing with locked firmware. Many have said that they are using some of Marlin and keeping people from seeing this so they can hide from being sued by the GPL licensing. I'm sure there are people out there like myself that are working on or have cracked their code open and working on preparing a suit as we speak. I'm sure if Geeetech was to come clean now before this happens that they could avoid an expensive litigation in the future. However, it seems at this time they would rather wait it out and hope they dont get cought.

the only thing the 03 firmware did for e was allow me to up the temp to run ABS. Nothing to improve other operations that are needed with firmware changes that they dont seem to want to open so we can fix them. I just dont understand their reasoning on this since the community can do lots more than their so called engineers.
