Geeetech Rostock 301, résoudre, solve his problems !!!

Post by Lami René » Thu Dec 08, 2016 6:25 pm

Hello,
Bonjour,

You can find the original text into English following this original French text.

http://www.banggood.com/fr/M6X26-1_75-P ... rmmds=cart
Vis coupe chaleur (8 type différents) J-Head V5 & V6.jpg
Vis coupe chaleur (8 type différents) J-Head V5 & V6.jpg (205.98 KiB) Viewed 22772 times

http://www.banggood.com/fr/200MM-4x6-MM ... 90223.html

Cordialement,

L'ami René

Hello,

Excuse me, I am unilingual francophone and I use Google translator to translate the texts of the forum in French and to write to you in English. Thank you for your understanding and your indulgence for these texts translated mechanically!

Do you get great prints with your Geeetech Rostock 301 (M301) delta printer?

Not me, I bought it on September 24, 2016 and received on October 27, 2016, but no impression to date, that defective parts or design errors in the choice of parts! I'm waiting for replacement parts.

But I and other unfortunate owners of this printer have solutions because these are all basically design problems causing problems.

Let's start at the top of the printer.

The clamp spring of the extruders is too small to push the ball bearing against the filament and the serrated wheel of the stepping motor of the extruders. The serrated wheel slides and grinds the filament without advancing into the Teflon Bowden guide tube to the hotend nozzle (the print head).

These same Teflon Bowden tubes to guide the filament are twice too long. The maximum length should be 500 to 520 mm. The printer comes with nearly double this length, which doubles the friction and resistance in this tube for the filament.

In addition, the factory setting of the stepper motor of the extruders is often too low, and this causes the extruders to step stepwise. The setting observed for the extruders should be at least 0.6 to 0.7 Volt. There should never be a jump of steps, it is catastrophic for a 3D impression!

To date, I have recorded configurations from 0.55 Volt to 0.9 Volt on the forums. Personally, I configured the 6 drivers of the motors to 0.6 Volt and I do not notice the slightest step step when I made my few missed impressions (4 or 5), I expect parts. So the above with the criterion of the operating temperature of the pilots and their engine, these are the only criteria to remember to increase the voltage.

But it is recommended for reasons of backup of the mechanical and electronic components of the printer, to keep the lowest voltage possible in cases where the limits of movement of the motors exceeded the limits of the printer.

For example, a false maneuver that would send the print head lower than the hot platen. The fact that the voltage is not at maximum will preserve in cascade; The belts, then the sprockets, then the stepper motors, then the drivers of the motors, then the controller board and finally the main power unit.

In the same way, in cascade, the state of the print heating plate will be saved, as well as the tip of the nozzle, as well as the ball joints and the ball bearing of the carriages, etc.

Therefore, they have been set at the lowest level so that in normal operation, there is never any jump of the motors of the belts and motors of the extruders, but that in case of malfunction, nothing is deteriorated.

The power of the motors of the belts and motors of the extruders can be adjusted to different values. For example, belt motors at 0.6 Volt and motors at 0.7 Volt extruders.

The radiator headers of the print head hide a "J-Head" heat shield.

Example of these heat screws:

http://www.banggood.com/fr/M6X26-1_75-P ... rmmds=cart
Vis coupe chaleur (8 type différents) J-Head V5 & V6.jpg
Vis coupe chaleur (8 type différents) J-Head V5 & V6.jpg (205.98 KiB) Viewed 22772 times
There are 8 types in four categories:

Category of heat screws:

1) Breakthrough and standard machining.

2) Standard drilling and machining with polished internal finish.

3) Larger hole for the passage of the Teflon Bowden tube from the extruder to the end of the heat screw.

4) Larger hole to accommodate a Teflon sheath (more accurate than the Bowden tube) from end to end of the heat shield.

In order, these four categories of heat screws are increasingly efficient and always in order, they always offer less and less resistance to the passage of the filament and even prevents it from heating (the Teflon). This could be a breakthrough in solving the filament and extruder problems, this corresponds to the symptoms of extrusion of material and lack of stepper motor force of the extruders.

Geeetech uses the category 3 heat screws with the Bowden Teflon tube.

All these problems are known to Geeetech, but for now (2016-12-08), it does not offer the real solutions that would correct the problems. They want us to correct these design flaws and at our expense! Is it okay, is it honorable for a manufacturer to act this way!

It should :

1) Change the spring or the clamp of the extruders as the spring is too weak.

2) Cut the length of the Teflon tubes "Bowden" to 520 mm maximum, because they are too long for nothing.

3) Minimally adjust the pilot voltage of the stepper motors between 0.6 and 0.7 Volt so that there is no longer any jump of steps and thus desynchronization of the printing.

In the same vein, there is also the quality of the diagonal rods and their kneecaps which are of too low quality, as there is too much or too little lateral movement in the kneecaps. In the 12 ball joints I received, 2 were completely blocked without any movement, without rotation. The other 10 had a lateral displacement of 1 mm or more, which is unacceptable for the accuracy of a 3D printer. They would be very advantageous for the accuracy of the prints to replace them with ball joints with magnetic connection like this example:

http://www.banggood.com/fr/200MM-4x6-MM ... 90223.html

There remains a point to elucidate concerning the design of this 3D delta Geeetech Rostock 301 (M301) is the capacity of the heating resistor in relation to the mass and the thermal inertia of the diamond head and its three inputs with Heat sink screw and radiator manifold. It is a large total mass for a single heating resistor.

The Rostock 301 is only a copy of the G2s with a copy of a print head found on the web and without understanding that a three-filament diamond head is more demanding in pushing force simply because The supply line is not in a straight line, the heating resistance is also probably too low for the speeds seen as the mass of the nozzle and its thermal inertia, two or three heating resistors would probably be required or a much more resistance Strong, etc.

My history and that of others on the Geeetech forum and RepRap.org forums, confirms that there are the same design problems that we all encounter. And the more you use the printer without changing the parts the greater the risks of breaking it are great. This is another fact that is not normal, even for a low-end product.

Here one is not far from obsolete to plan, but this is not because it is only mistakes in designing the parting of a company that copies all, shamelessly.

The proof of copy and design error is the fact that we share 95% of the mechanics of the G2s mono extruder version and that this G2s has no printing problem, at least not of this magnitude .

For me, any new product must work in its original state, even the low-end products, which is not the case here with this 3D delta Geeetech Rostock 301 (M301) which needs to be modified to print any part in PLA.

The changes suggested here would make this printer conform to the specifications written by Geeetech for its 3D delta Rostock 301 (M301) colors.

Cordially,

The friend René

Hello,
Bonjour,

Hello,

Excuse me, I am unilingual francophone and I use Google translator to translate the texts of the forum in French and to write to you in English. Thank you for your understanding and your indulgence for these texts translated mechanically!

Here is my procedure for adjusting the voltage on the stepper motor driver:

If the serrated wheel slides on the filament, it is because the pressure of the clamp on the filament is too low and it is necessary to adjust the clamp for more pressure on the filament. The serrated stepper motor must never slide over the filament, it is important!

So the serrated wheel of the stepper motor never slips on the filament, but if the motor jumps, it means that the motor driver's electrical adjustment is too low and that it must be increased by The tiny potentiometer directly on the controller card driver. The usual voltage value required is between 0.6 and 0.7 Volt.

Measure and adjust the electrical power of the stepper motor driver by using a DC meter (circle # 1) connected by the black multimeter cable to the metal cover of the controller card's USB port (frame # 2). And the red multimeter cable to a small conductive metal screwdriver (circle # 3) and directly into the metal slot of the pilot's mini potentiometer (circle # 4).

There are the three drivers for the belt motors and the three pilots for the extruders which can be adjusted independently. But for me, as I am beginner in the matter they are all set to 0.6 Volt (± 0.004 Volt).

Hi rené.

The heat screws kind are "3) Percée plus grande pour recevoir une gaine de Teflon de bout en bout de la vis."
So i think they are the best possible to offer the less resistance to PLA, what we are looking for...

I must admit i had to cut teflon tube, but i was happy to have some extra teflon to make some tests...

http://www.geeetech.com/forum/viewtopic ... 27&t=18578

I deduce that you with buy the screws heat cuts recommended in the subject "Geeetech Rostock 301, résoudre, solve his problems !!!" :

And you confirm that the solution of heat screws with Teflon sheath suggested in the subject is good?

Could you provide us with a hyperlink of the exact part you bought as a reference to order the same product?

When you write "I had to cut the teflon tube" do you mean the 60 mm of the Bowden Teflon guide tubes for the filaments that goes into the radiator nozzles of the diamond nozzle?

You could offer us one or more photos close to your printed pieces with these new screws heat cuts?

Hi René,

The heat screws look like a good idea. The part you referenced is for an M6 screw. However, when I measured the part on the M301, it seems that it is an M8 (8 mm diameter). Banggood does not have an M8 screw so I might be wrong. Have you or others confirmed the size needed? Thanks.

Hi all,
thanks for the clear posts - it helps me kickstarting my first 3Dprinter. Yep... I might be less fortunate to have this one on my hands...
I bought it only recently and mine has the heat sink screws of "type #3". I can push teflon tubes till the very end.
Still the setup of these heatsinks is not so good, because the heatbreak zone is quit large. (see 6:20 and 9:20 in this movie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kf907duwAAE - I guess I'm also learning the hard way here.)
Did none of you try to reduce the resistance of the extrudermotors by improving on the heatbreak?
I was planning to cut like 5-8mm of the heatsinkscrews and as such to reduce the zone in which the PLA already softens (in my opinion the PLA swells up to the diameter of the teflon and creates extra resistance that needs to be compensated by the extruder motors)

PS: I'm kind of stuck in the bedlevelling... I thought I nailed it by following the bedlevelling guide of Geeetech, but I miss something
I levelled the centerpoint (#1 in the guide), as well as the points #2-#3-#4, but the opposite sides of the bed (where the screws sits), are not level? I assumed if I had 3 points in a surface level + the delta radius I was done... apparently not? Suggestions?

PPS: my stepper motors do seem to step only each 0.2mm instead of each 0.1mm!! None of the 3 move, not when I step 0.1 via Repetier, nor via the manual menu on the printer.

Hello MikaëlV,
Bonjour MikaëlV,

You can find the original text into English following this original French text.

Cordialement,

L'ami René

Hello MikaëlV,

Excuse me, I am unilingual francophone and I use Google translator to translate the texts of the forum in French and to write to you in English. Thank you for your understanding and your indulgence for these texts translated mechanically!

As for the heat screws, I think you are wrong, because if the white Teflon Bowden tubes fit 60 to 65 mm into the radiator manifolds of the nozzle, this indicates that you have type # 1 and not The type # 3. And type # 1 is not traversed 100% of its length, but around 70%, the behind threaded part after the heat-cutting part has no Teflon and is not polished mirror like the Type # 2. Review the pictures of type #3, we see the Teflon at the end of the screw and section heat cut.

Maybe I did not understand your text translated into French!

Could you photograph both ends of one of your heat-cutting screws so that we can confirm your screw type without error?

For the other points, the French translation is incomprehensible to me, so I can not comment on these other points!

Cordially,

cordialement,
Mikael

Hi René,
I'm quite sur about my situation... I have taken apart the whole hotend after a blockage. I did'nt insert my cables the full 72mm, but only 62mm (oops)
See in the picture: it is taken from the bottom of the heatsink
Greetz,
Mikael

Hello MikaëlV,
Bonjour MikaëlV,

You can find the original text into English following this original French text.

Excuse me, I am unilingual francophone and I use Google translator to translate the texts of the forum in French and to write to you in English. Thank you for your understanding and your indulgence for these texts translated mechanically!

Thank you for the photo, it is very instructive for all of us!

It proves that I was wrong and that there are two types # 3 that look alike. We should name it type # 4 to distinguish it from other types.

This type # 4 is pierced with a diameter of 4mm over its length and allows the insertion along its length (100%) of a Teflon tube as for the type # 3, but the type # 4 does not include the sheath Teflon, it uses the extension of the Teflon Bowden tube which guides the filament of the extruder to the radiator manifold of the nozzle.

I just disassembled and check my two printers and the heat screws are identical to your photo. So thank you for your help and correction of my error!

The diameter of the main thread of the screws is 7.8mm by 18mm long as you pointed out with threads at 1.0mm and the small threaded portion is at the diameter of 5.8 by 6.0mm long also with threads at 1.0mm, The total length of these screws is 32.0mm. These data are important for ordering replacement parts.

Here are some pictures :

As the Bowden Teflon guide tubes have an internal diameter of 2.0mm, I suspect that the # 3 type screws are more accurate with an internal diameter of 1.85mm, but today I have no certainty about it Does not have any of these parts.
