A10M keeps dying mid print!

Post by Akuma » Mon Feb 25, 2019 1:02 am

So this has happened a number of times now. During a print about mid way up the printer dies. The screen LCD goes blank, but the back light is still visible and slightly flickering and the fans sometimes but not always go off. Sometimes when turning off and on, if I don't leave it off long enough I turn on and the problem is still there. No fans fire up either until I've turned it off for more than 5 seconds.
What do I need to look at? Is the power supply the culprit?

UPDATE: It now won't print a thing. After turning on, and heading the bed for about 10 seconds, it dies again, leaving a ticking sound coming from the board. Fans and LCD all die, just the backlight on the LCD and LED stop switch stay lit.

I'm about done with this piece of crap.

ANOTHER UPDATE: It won't even turn on now. Light comes on on switch and nothing else happens. Completely dead. :(

Hi.
;)

It's sad what happened to you. :(

From your description I conclude that the power supply has broken down.

To be sure you can check the voltage on the connectors of the controller board. You can also check if the 5V voltage is correct.

This will give you a picture of the fault.
If the printer is new, contact your dealer to replace the defective components.

I think so too. I have disconnected the power supply cable where the external wire plugs into the 2 pin connector before it goes to the main board, and using a multimeter on the pins it shows no voltage at all when switched on. Is this indicative of the PSU being dead?

The LED on the main switch is all that seems to have power. I suspect the PSU has melted parts from heating the bed and hot end as it progressively got worse as these were in use, dying quicker each time until nothing.

Printer is only 3 months old and has been a bit of a pain compared to my Anet. I would swap the PSU from that to test but it's only 12v

Thanks for the help. I hope the warranty is valid.

Amazon support was very helpful. They are shipping a new power supply and a 1kg PLA filament to say sorry.
I hope it doesn't take too long to come. So glad it's not the board that's faulty.
I'm wondering if 15a 24v is enough. It's only 360W which is under what my PC is.

Have you not made a mistake? Are you surely 24V?

My printer has a 15A 24V DC power supply.

That's exactly what I wrote: 15a 24v :?
24x15 = 360w

I think you need to use the multimeter check the PSU then you can get the result.
