Extruder change and upgrade

Post by Neil » Fri Sep 28, 2018 1:16 am

On my continuing mission to elevate the weight on the z axis I was thinking of removing the hot end and extruder motor, in favour of mounting the motor to the frame and running the filament to an ed3 titan v6 style hot end.
I understand the filament will need to be run through a Bowden style set up.
Now my main question is has any one modified their printer on this way and could you point me in right direction of where and how to start

Hi

It won't hurt if you look at the design of the M201 printer.
;)
By the way, a very interesting concept.
On the forum I help to use the rod, I don't give fish.
Geeetech Prusa I3 M201 Dual extruder Mixcolor 3D printer, bought 2017-12-19, already built, in the cognitive and improvement phase
Geeetech filament, ABS only
Geeetech 3D WiFi Module for 3D Printer, bought 2018-04-15, He got a new life, and still lies in a drawer.
Positively frenzied customer of Getech Technology.

I've found some resources for printed brackets and parts should run me to the cost of about £20 GBP (> $25 USD)
I'm thinking of adding a filament sensor of some sort, but I need to work out the programming
