SOLVED - Gaps in First Prints

Post by BennyBoyW » Mon Mar 05, 2018 10:34 pm

Hi
Many apologies - I am a total noob to this 3D printing thing.
We have built a Geeetech Prusa i3 B and have calibrated it and printed off my first print. I have attached a photo and as it shows, there's a lot of gaps in the outside walls.
I am cheered by the fact that the angles of the hex nut look straight, but alarmed by the gaps.
What is causing this please ? There's so many settings that this might be caused by that my brain has fogged up totally.
Thanks
Ben

It's way under-extruding for some reason. Possible reasons in order of probability: Clogged nozzle, extruder temp. too low, slicer settings wrong, going too fast, extruder pulses per mm off in firmware (unlikely but possible).....

You can refer to JohnDeere630
Add one suggestion
You can swap the A4988 of Zaxis and extruder and then test it again
-Keep your mind and try to test it. :)
-Everything will be fun!-Support all Getech printer.
-You can ask me the questions and I will kindly reply.

Solved this - it seemed to be a combination of problems including pressure from the extruder spring. A lot of Google and some trial and error (and a new batch of filament) seems to have solved the under extrusion problem. I still need to calibrate the extruder fully and I will do that tonight I think.
Thanks all for help

I'm having the same issue and no matter how hot I seem to go on the extruder temp, I still don't get full infill. What are you using for temp and feed rate?
