GT2560 Rev A+ acting funny

Post by jring » Thu Jun 07, 2018 4:47 am

Hi,

I have bought a heavily modified i3 clone with a GT2560 board which is working fine.
But since I would like to upgrade with an auto leveling sensor and maybe StepStick drivers, I need a current Marlin with some compile time options set, on the other hand everything works with the old board...

So I got a new GT2560 rev A+ board off german amazon, compiled Marlin 1.0.8, connected the new board via USB and did only get a timeout plus the uart was not really correctly initialized. Also there was only a green led near the USB port burning dimly.
Then I did read the fine manual and found you need the PSU - USB power is not enough. So I unpluuged the PSU from my old board and into the new one, switched on, connected USB and successfully flashed. I then connected LCD and SDcard and all looked great.

Then I unplugged the USB and LCD went off... Measuring the 5V point showed no voltage...

So I need the 12v PSU and 5v USB power to run he GT2560 Rev A+???

Is this normal or is something funny with my board?

Thanks for the answer - it's been returned and hopefully the next example works.

My GT2560 Rev A+ is acting funny. I tried to upload a file from SD and it starts the upload but after a few seconds, it stops and says: "Error uploading firmware. Serial port disconnecting." I have got australian writing help online and tried it about 10 times now and it still does the same thing.
