My Z-axis is way too stiff, so I ended up here (like, I suspect, about 50% of people building these things).

After removing the wood panel at the top and loosening the drive connector at the bottom, My Z axis threaded shaft sits at quite an angle to the smooth one next to it. See http://i.imgur.com/HU7mERN.jpg. I can get it into the hole, but having done that it's so stiff the motor can't turn it. It's not bent, it's just going through a thing which is clearly not parallel to it's sister.

I'm not really sure what to do about it, other than grab a pair of pliers and try to bend everything to a reasonable angle. Ideas welcome.

Hello.

You think well.
There is no other option but you have to model a black handle with a trapezoidal nut.
I had a similar problem but to a lesser extent.
;)

I had this problem to,
after a lot of testing I realized that all I had to do was loosen the bearings for both the smooth rod and the threaded rod.

Hello everybody, since i had the same issue I would like to let you know how I solved it.

Basically I have changed the top plate (you can also enlarge the hole on the original one, only on the threaded rods seat.
I removed the threaded rods in order to have access to the bearing screws, then I proceed to untight them (I have completely removed 3 screws on each side and left one screw per side a litlle untightened, this acts like a lash adjuster because the problem isn't the sliding rods but the allignement of the threaded rod with the stepper motor axis. After doing so you can assemble the threaded rod back in place.

Check also the pictures below, hope this was useful for you as well.

I had the same problem along with lots of other problems!
i acualy noticed that the 2 shaft that holds the extruder and X motor were quit tight where it goes to the X motor side, i used the files and losened them a little bit ( becarful not to file too much just take the paint away softly) and used a bit of lubricant on the 2 screw shafts that takes the extruder up and down and its working fine now,
YOU ARE FUCKING AWESOME!!! I will nevcer realized that, I have had this problem for months and it was almost killing me. I just let it to be not so tigh and it's perfect.

You should reassemble the rods, And make sure the linear bearings can move smoothly then Omegle tighten the screws.
