Prusa I3 X Extruder not working

Hello,

I have a Prusa I3 X

The extruder motor does not move, even without filament. I confirmed that the motor is working by plugging in the Extruder motor to the Y axis port and sending it commands through Repetier and through the LCD move controls. I also confirmed that the motor driver works by swapping the y axis driver and the extruder driver and sending commands in the same fashion. It appears that the port where the extruder plugs into is not sending the commands to move the stepper motor, not matter what driver or motor is plugged into it.

Please help...

Hello,

I'm not sure if my last reply went through or not, but it's been a few days, so I'll reply again.

I did test to see if there is a short on the extruder motor pins and on the main board as you asked.

As a stepper motor has two coils, each coil had a small resistance indicating that it was a good motor, in other words, I did not find a short that would cause the motor to not work. I also tested the cable, there are no shorts between any of the wires, and the driver pins to the connector on the main board did not show any short circuit either.

Here's where I am at:

- Good Motor
- Good Driver
- Good Motor Cable
- Good Main Board (unless there is an open between the microprocessor pins and the driver, which seems very unlikely).

At this point, I feel there is an issue with the Marlin firmware on the main board. When I first turned it on, the LCD screen said i3 Pro B. I checked my email and spam folder for any files that Geeetech may have sent me, but I didn't receive anything. So I went on the forum and found a version of the i3_Pro_X, I uploaded that using Arduino 1.0.1 and everything except the extruder is working. I was hoping you could send me the latest working version of the Marlin firmware for my Prusa i3 Pro X to see if that fixes the issue.

Thank you in advance.

SIGNAL IS NOT COMING TO DRIVER.

How can i cancel extruder1 port and using onl extruder2 port. What should i change on hardware and firmware exactly?

Thanks..

Hi,
About the mainboard,it has some changes:
1.The motor driver module moves to E2 from E1;
2.The motor cables moves to E2 from E1;
3.The thermistor port move from T_E1 to T_E2;
Plus,the firmware need to be changed,and you can upload the firmware for PRO C,cuz they are compatible.
Looking forward to your reply soon.
Good Luck

I had the same problems: no movement from extruder.
i swapped out ports, stepper motors, cables, etc.

I made a dry run of a file with the extruder motor (only-no extruder or hotend) and 'saw' some movement. It was like watching an hour hand on a clock.

Solution:
turn up the e-feed. to somewhere around 30mm/sec

But I broke my plastic extruder part (lever arm that holds idler bearing) somehow and am shopping for a metal replacement.
