Alternate controller board for M201 Printer

Post by Kimbleos » Fri Dec 09, 2016 5:55 am

Can I substitute a RAMPS 1.4 controller board for the GTM 32 board that is supplied with the i3 M201 printer? If so, is the RAMPS 1.4 board the only substitution needed or do I need the Mega 2560 R3 board as well? Where would I get the firmware to make the RAMPS 1.4 board work with the M201 printer?

Did you really wanna try that?I guess you will miss the "Mixer" function on M201,just a common dual-extruder printer.
-Keep your mind and try to test it. :)
-Everything will be fun!-Support all Getech printer.
-You can ask me the questions and I will kindly reply.
-Respect others is the best way you can get help!

In theory, you can use a RAMPS 1.4 with the M201.
But you also need :
- of course an Arduino MEGA board ! (RAMPS by itself is useless)
- a firmware able to deal with mixing extruder (Repetier is OK and the last version of Marlin also I think)
- to change all the heaters (hotend and bed) with 12V version (RAMPS cannot cope with 24 V power supply)
- a 12 V power supply

I have bought everything to do this change on my M201 but I did not find time to do it yet...
