Not sure if this will help but I had the same probelm with my Makerbot and discovered that it was due to my filament spool snagging on the spool holder. It would streach the filament then push more through causing the blockage. That could also explain why when hand feeding it it worked well. 3d prin...

Thermal runaway because of print PLA print settings. We were increasing the print temperature to 215°C make the print stick better to the PEI but failed to set the proper temps of 200-205°C for the later layers. You could try running a small pin drill into the tip when its hot to try to break up the blockage but if that doesn't work you will need to take the hot end apart and clean the nozzle out from the inside. These Makergear hot ends are probably good when they work but total rebuilds when they fail. I ...

Assuming that we are concerned with the XT PLUS I have to say that the problem with that suggestion is that there is then a gap between the end of the feeder tube and the nozzle piece. This then causes molten filament to find its' way up through the screw connection and ooze out on top of the heater...

If there is just some dirt or carbonized material in the nozzle or another hot end part, it’s important to clean it. Therefore it is recommended to use the Atomic Method, which is a simple though very effective way of cleaning the hot end. Especially if the dirt in the hot end is bigger than the noz...
